Ah, David Lynch. How he must revel in fucking with people. I picture him sitting at home (wherever that is - probably a mountainous tower from where he can gaze at the ant-like populace below) and I imagine him laughing. Not a half-hearted chuckle, not the sort of faux-chuckle oft-practised at a female stand-up gig. No, this is a proper laugh. An aching belly laugh. He's laughing so hard he's crapped his intestines out his nose.

Episode 1: The Green Parent

ImageIt is a truth universally denied that a reviewer in possession of a deadline will sometimes offer opinions on works they have not actually seen.

Here at Brazen there aren’t necessarily deadlines, but sometimes a lack of inclination prevents us from properly reviewing stuff. But, just because we haven’t got off our shiftless arses and plugged our way through some turgid novel, indifferent movie or crapulent album, doesn’t mean that we can’t talk about them.

If religion has taught us anything it is that ignorance and prejudice are poor excuses for not holding strong opinions. In fact the less you know about something the easier it is to trash it. Just look at how evangelical preacher Ted Haggard condemned homosexuality, without any knowledge – well, actually, that’s a bad example, but the principle is sound. That’s why we’re instituting a new column, dedicated to reviewing stuff we have not thoroughly examined…

And so to the first victim: “The Green Parent”.
